While the occasional march and pro-Remain rally helped, coming to SODEM helped me feel that I was doing something more constructive and that there was hope.

I think I attended the second ever SODEM, after being unable to attend the first due to being out of the country (working freely in the EU!).
There were important EU debates in the Commons and I wanted to show solidarity with pro-EU protesters.
I could usually be seen waving a Veterans for Europe Flag or the Scottish Saltire.
I am a retired Doctor and have never been interested in politics. When I learnt about the problems we were facing and then saw all the lies surrounding Leave and Brexit I felt I had to protest.
I liked seeing Steve in the flesh. Even my French foster kids in France know who he is and what he’s doing.
I first came to parliament in the winter of 2017/18, during the freezing cold snap, to show solidarity with Steve Brave who I had seen standing alone in the snow on social media.
I campaigned for Remain in Cheshire where I lived in 2016. I joined in anti-Brexit marches in Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool, and all the ones held in London...
I went to all the marches and lots of regional events, but was only able to go to London mid-week once to attend SODEM.
My story is simply that I wanted to ensure the EU was still available to my grandchildren. They both marched with me.
