I was mainly involved in the number 10 vigil from Feb 2017 onwards, with various associated stunts, and then SODEM when I could, and one off protests...
A German couple stopped to say 'we wondered where you were', meaning the people who objected to Brexit, of whom they'd not seen any on their trip - it really brought home the importance of visibility.
The Brexit vote caused 20% inflation in all my cost prices and a steep decline in consumer confidence - the people have been conned.
I wanted to Stop Brexit! This seemed a really good way of actually doing something not just talking about it!
I was so convinced that our country should remain a member of the EU that I believed we could convince the government of that fact. I had never been on a protest march before in my life, and I was nearly 77 then.
It all started with hanging flags from Bridges. Then there was the march in March 2017. From then on there was no choice. A visible protest every day Parliament sits.
All the SODEM supporters were funny and warm and friendly, and they had lost the Referendum but had probably won at Life!
My favourite memory is just the pro-EU atmosphere.
The constant visual presence was important and I felt happy that, with no other responsibilities, and friends in London happy to have me, I was able to be there.
Keep writing, keep talking, when possible keep marching, keep in touch with friends in Europe. For the sake of our children and grandchildren, we must not go away.
