When did you first attend the SODEM protest outside Parliament and why did you come?

2018-19I had seen Steve Bray on TV and wanted to shake his hand and say thanks.

Roughly how old are you?

OAP less than 70 Years – just!!

How frequently did you come and when was the last time you attended?

During late 2018 – 2019 up to 3 times a week. Tried to make sure it was at least once a week and made an effort when the weather was poor because I knew that was when numbers could be low at the protest. I got extremely wet and very cold on numerous occasions! Last attended September 2020.

How far from Westminster do you live and what was your travelling time?

I live in S.E. Kent, 72 miles to London, a 2 hour train journey from my village. When I was there more than once a week I stayed with family in East London.

What’s your favourite memory?

Being part of a fabulous group of like-minded people. I loved being there when it was dark with all the twinkling lights on all the crafty banners, flags etc.

Tell me your story

I just tried to help out the stalwarts whenever I attended.

Helped to make the flags easier to attach to the railings, I can sew!

Wore a crocheted hat & poncho with 12 gold stars that were connected to lights in the evenings so I was a bit recognisable!

Loved being part of the regular ‘army’ of Steve’s supporters. Always felt safe and secure even when times were difficult. As you know we did meet some very unsavoury characters!
