When did you first attend the SODEM protest outside Parliament and why did you come?

11 December 2017. To meet up with fellow Veterans for Europe (Steve Bray and Steve Gavin).

Roughly how old are you?

Early 50s

How frequently did you come and when was the last time you attended?

Once every few months.  12 March 2019.

How far from Westminster do you live and what was your travelling time?

140 Miles. About 2.5 hours.

What’s your favourite memory?

Watching a Pro-Forces Quitling’s face drop when I put on my beret and medals under the EU flag.

Tell me your story

I started the fight to stay in the EU far too late… It was August 2016 when I read a post from an Italian lady (who’s husband was ex-RAF) about her being asked to ‘Prepare to leave’ by the Home Office. The anger made me join Worcestershire for Europe, start the Veterans for Europe group (along with Steve G and Duncan H), support the No10 Vigil and EU Flag Mafia in their operations, and support SODEM when in town. After a while, as all groups started to grow I became chair of W4E, helped drive the co-operation between the West Midlands groups and the creation of new groups (supported by the European Movement). I attended rallies, marches, events, talks, national and regional meetings, organised street stalls (with the W4E team), supported other groups street stalls, gave speeches (most notably the Tory Party Conference rally in Birmingham) and gave numerous national and international newspaper and radio interviews (including James O’Brien on LBC).
