When did you first attend the SODEM protest outside Parliament and why did you come? 

I woke the morning after the referendum not believing the result. I could see that so many groups – fishermen, farmers, the list went on – had been deceived into thinking life would be simpler and better outside the EU. I had travelled around europe and further afield, working for companies that exported around the world, and had first hand experience of how complex and difficult life outside could be. 

At first I was shell-shocked and didn’t know what to do, but seeing Steve’s daily protests outside parliament told me that yes, I still had a voice that could be heard. I joined the marches but still felt it wasn’t enough, so I came down to Westminster. 

Sorry I don’t have a photo of me, whilst I was there, but I was too caught up in events. Perhaps Someone else does? I was the disabled granny with walking sticks wrapped in the EU flag when UKIP were also putting their flags out.

Grandma age.

How frequently did you come and when was the last time you attended?

As often as I could, given my disability.

How far from Westminster do you live and what was your travelling time?

I travelled from North Herts via train and cab, about 2 hours each way because of my disability, and wished I could have more often.

What’s your favourite memory?

SODEM inspired me to join local protests too, manning stalls and entering into a lively correspondence with my MP.

Tell me your story

I voted to stay in back in 74, and again in 2016. I hope to vote to rejoin soon, when the grown-ups regain political control in Westminster.
