When did you first attend the SODEM protest outside Parliament and why did you come?

May 2018 just to meet and thank Steve, but regularly from December 2018 onwards, during 2019, until 2020, because Steve seemed the only visible focus of protest against Brexit.

Roughly how old are you?

65+

How frequently did you come and when was the last time you attended?

Every day outside the Cabinet Office in August 2019. Otherwise, outside Parliament 2 or 3 days a week. Last attended Feb 2020, possibly 5 Feb. Stopped only because of lockdown.

How far from Westminster do you live and what was your travelling time?

I live on London Zone 2. My station is on the District Line, directly through to Westminster, travelling time around half an hour/40 mins door to door.

What’s your favourite memory?

Making friends with the wonderful people who went to so much trouble making their personal placards/comments etc, sharing food from Danny, and who gave so much of their time, energy and commitment to Sodem. Singing  ‘We’re not gonna Brexit’ one evening with Steve and others in the car park entrance (good acoustics) under the media village on College Green while Nigel Farage was doing his LBC show live.

Tell me your story

No real story compared to many others. I was lucky enough to have the free time to come to Sodem regularly and to live so near that I could attend easily. After the referendum, I felt compelled in a way I had never previously felt to try and stop the terrible mistake of Brexit happening and Steve was an inspiring focus. I had never done anything like this before. Everyone in Sodem tried so hard but sadly no one in government was prepared to listen. So, in many ways, Sodem changed the course of my life.
