When did you first attend the SODEM protest outside Parliament and why did you come?
20th Decembe, 2018. I discovered SODEM via Veterans For Europe on the London March on 20th October, 2018. I joined Vets4EU and wanted to campaign for a 2nd EU Referendum. SODEM seemed to be the ideal way of protesting, and I took pictures and video for the guy at Vets who posted live on Vets Facebook group.
Roughly how old are you?
69
How frequently did you come and when was the last time you attended?
As often as possible. I would come up to London 2 or 3 times a month and do between 3and 5 days each visit and do between 6 to 10 hours daily. My last attendance was on the Day Ursula Von Der Leyen visited the EU offices in Smith Square, Westminster (8th January, 2020).
I intend to protest again with Steve outside Parliament on a Wednesday when the Covid 19 issues are resolved.
I could usually be seen waving a Veterans for Europe Flag or the Scottish Saltire.
How far from Westminster do you live and what was your travelling time?
I live in Plymouth and drive to London; when there I stay in Biggin Hill or Bromley. The drive to London takes 4 to 5 hours. In London I walk 2 miles to Bromley South station tram to Victoria then walk to Westminster whole journey takes about 90 minutes then it’s a return in the reverse order.
What’s your favourite memory?
I announced the result of Theresa May’s huge majority defeat, the biggest in the history of Parliament, to the gathered hordes at Old Palace Yard. I had someone watching on Parliament TV and was in contact all through the voting. I shouted the result within 5 seconds of it being announced in Parliament by The Speaker. I was also able to shout the majority figures.
