When did you first attend the SODEM protest outside Parliament and why did you come?

14th February 2019.  I wanted to support Steve Bray after all the hours he’d put in shouting for our cause. I hoped we could make a difference.

Roughly how old are you?

69

How frequently did you come and when was the last time you attended?

I only came once to SODEM, but I came to all the Marches.

How far from Westminster do you live and what was your travelling time?

120 miles – 3 hours by car and train.

What’s your favourite memory?

Meeting Steve and Madaleina Kay, and seeing Ben Bradshaw and Sarah Wollaston come and join us for ‘Cake not Hate’.

Tell me your story

I am a passionate European, devastated by the referendum result and have been trying since then to change our direction of travel. I set up a European Movement group here in Somerset – European Movement Mendip – covering Wells and Somerton and Frome constituencies. We have leafletted, campaigned on the streets, held Brexit impact events but with two Tory MPs failed to make a difference. Now my MP has a junior ministerial role he’s even more of a lost cause. Nevertheless we continue to try to influence him, our other MP and the public as best we can.

My background is in teaching. I am a wife, mother, grandmother and have the full support of all my family whose futures I am really frightened for. The fight for true democracy goes on.
