April 2018

60

About once a month through to June 2019

How far from Westminster do you live and what was your travelling time?

60 miles, approximately an hour and a half.

What’s your favourite memory?

The camaraderie and meeting so many lovely people. Also talking to tourists many of whom were bemused at the vote to leave.

Tell me your story

I remember the days when the UK was the “sick man of Europe” and I campaigned to join in 1973. We had power cuts, we made dreadful cars and I just thought that we needed to be part of something larger.  My father, a civil servant, had worked in the cabinet office with Churchill, Macmillan and others who were very keen to be a part of the growing European project and he was passionately pro-EU in his lifetime, undoubtedly this was a major influence on me.  In addition I have family in Germany and the lack of borders and boundaries just makes complete sense.
