When did you first attend the SODEM protest outside Parliament and why did you come?
A few of us came from Lancaster for Europe. I can’t even remember when the first time was. We came to show MPs and Lord’s that people in the north weren’t buying the Brexit lies and to support SODEM, as watching the daily protests had given us such a morale boost.
Roughly how old are you?
49
How frequently did you come and when was the last time you attended?
I came three or four times. I can’t remember when the last time was. 2019 at some point. There were a lot of pro-no Deal banners by that time.
How far from Westminster do you live and what was your travelling time?
From Lancaster- train and tube was about 4hrs each way.
What’s your favourite memory?
Going with my adult daughter, who was very shy and unsure about attending, but who ended up holding a People’s Vote placard sat on top of a car! I loved getting the Lancashire rose onto the TV a few times too.
Tell me your story
So frustrated by the outrageous lies and false promises of the Brexit campaign, I became an active member of our local group in 2017. We held street stalls across the region and filled two coaches to go to the October 2019 march. I’m totally gutted by the 80 Tory majority and am taking a break before coming back to promote U.K. joining the EU.
